House of Cards

Radiohead’s latest video for their single House of Cards is, in true Radiohead fashion, a little bit ground-breaking. The video was recorded without light and without cameras. Instead they employed a couple of scanning technologies that mapped the scenes in 3D. They could then use the raw data to create the video using various rendering options and show the scenes from any angle they desired. Read the rest of this entry »

Nike Plus API

A Nike+ Trainer
I recently purchased a pair of Nike+ running shoes. I had been eager to track my running data (distance, duration, calories) for some time, and after a couple of runs, I have been very impressed with the data, presentation, and sharing capability provided by Nike. Read the rest of this entry »

CMS Comparison in a Nutshell

Which content management system (CMS) should I install? This is a question which doesn’t have a simple answer. The right CMS depends, in my opinion, on who will be using it, how much support is required and how extensible it needs to be. Over the years I have installed, tested and evaluated many solutions on various platforms, but as an advocate for open source, I will give a quick rundown of my two favourite open source products: Typolight and Drupal. You can’t turn a tanker round with a speedboat change

A photographer friend of mine told me today he didn’t want to be a photographer anymore, but instead, was going to be a ‘digital imaging poet’. Sounded like a great idea to me and we arranged to ‘touch base about it offline’ later (during one of our regular ‘idea showers’). We’ll no doubt be ‘getting our ducks in a row’ while looking to ‘leverage a holistic cradle-to-grave approach’ too. I think. Not sure… Read the rest of this entry »

Internet of things

Only recently did I joined the creative commons iPhone users and ever since I have enjoyed the rich discussions and ideas of useful software which users can benefit from. Having a hand-help computer at your disposal sometimes empower the user to be able to manage their social/work events better. I can’t wait to see the improved version of the iPhone OS which might be announced at The Apple Worldwide Developers Conference WWDC 08 (lets not forget the iPhone Developer Program) which has been promised to bring us a plethora of cool and must use applications. 11th Hour Awareness

For sometime now, my wife and I have been making small steps toward being more environmentally friendly. The difficulty we have had is that it isn’t clear as to what we can do, without making drastic changes, which can be impractical in a busy working lifestyle. Read the rest of this entry »

Twittering Tower Bridge

One of the towers of Tower Bridge
I’ve been a fan of Twitter for some time now. Something about summarising little moments in my life and logging them just seems to spin my wheels. There are a few nice unique twitterers out there. Mostly real people but also some not so real. The Tower Bridge Twitter feed is one of the decent automated ones. Read the rest of this entry »
