11th Hour Awareness

For sometime now, my wife and I have been making small steps toward being more environmentally friendly. The difficulty we have had is that it isn’t clear as to what we can do, without making drastic changes, which can be impractical in a busy working lifestyle. After watching Leonardo DiCaprio’s documentary, The 11th Hour on Channel 4, I have suddenly received the kick-up-the-backside I needed and will now devote as much time as possible to research and making more people aware of the “practical solutions for restoring the planet’s beleaguered ecosystems”. I will keep the blog updated with my progress and if you have some helpful information, please comment. To start you off, here are 50 ways to help the planet.

Agreed. I’ve been feeling the same every day. A zealot I am not, but tiny changes can make a big difference.

Steadily working my way through ‘50 Ways to Help the Planet’ but no. 3 (Don’t Rinse) has me thinking: I wonder how many people rinse their recycling (bottles, plastic, etc.) before they leave it out for collection!?

In response to David’s comment - do we need to rinse recycling? If so, should they go in the dishwasher too?

The other issue with not rinsing is that the dishwasher may not get everything clean, which would require you to run it for a second time, using more water!
