It’s the first day of December today and the Christmas countdown has formally begun. To mark the occasion, we thought turning our blog into a makeshift advent calendar would be a rather festive idea and so throughout the month we’ll be posting images of (sometimes only mildly) related seasonal greetings. Enjoy and Merry Christmas!

It’s that time of year again, which means only one thing. Party! However, this year every one of you is invited! Don’t start picking your outfits just yet though as, unfortunately, we don’t have room for you to physically tag along. However you still get to enjoy keeping up with our goings-on virtually by visiting the Dusted Christmas Doo Live Feed. It will be updated all day keeping you informed of our activities and showing you photos of us at the various locations.

Since the value of the pound has been dominating the news, I wanted to write about a more positive note on the pound. They both address the issue of the unknown quantity of the end-user’s browsing technology. Are they using the latest, greatest shiny browsers or are they keeping it retro (whether out of choice or not)? Are they on their mobile phone or on their Xbox 360 attached to a 50″ HD screen? How your site appears and functions on these various technologies depends, in part, on these two techniques. Read the rest of this entry »

I think everyone would agree Christmas just seems to get earlier and earlier. I’m sure when John Horsley designed the first commercially available Christmas card in 1843 (yes, I did have to Google that top fact…) he wasn’t thinking about it as early as September! Around mid-December, when the BBC are showing re-runs of The Wizard of Oz and Tesco have already started discounted tree decorations, that’s when I start ‘feeling Christmassy’. The quality of DLSRs has vastly improved of late, but as with all great technology, doing one thing really well just isn’t enough. Video recording has been a feature on digital cameras for a while, but I have never seen quality like this from any stills camera before. Read the rest of this entry »
