Dusted launch The Bridge Network
With Team GB riding high in the medals table at the Beijing Olympics we’ve been busy ourselves developing a new social networking site for ex-Olympians called The Bridge Network. Initially restricted to the rowing community the site has a business emphasis to it, facilitating the connection between employers and former athletes and the current generation of competitors.
Supported by Invesco Perpetual the site was founded by a group of former British Olympic athletes including Ben Hunt Davis (MBE) who rowed for Great Britain for almost a decade, competing at six World Championships and three Olympic Games. The highlight of his sporting career came at the Sydney Olympics in 2000 when he was a member of the men’s Eight that won the Gold Medal, becoming the first British winners of the event since 1912.
Our good friends at Browns devised the original branding while we developed the on-line experience and a completely bespoke back-end which powers the registration, search and member pages. The launch reinforces the notion that social networks are becoming more and more niche and it will be interesting to see if groups set up on Facebook become catalysts for similar style web sites.
