Fring your mobile

Why would you want to do mobile IM? I guess I am one of those geeks who likes to try out every new software especially if it is free and available for your mobile phone. I am now deeply happy that I downloaded Fring for the ability to ping my friends on Skype IM without powering my laptop up, or to check into google chat. Depending on the way you look at it IM enables a very different kind of conversation than is possible with voice or email - and it’s really nice to be able to have those kinds of conversations on a mobile device without it being an iPhone.

The advantage with Fring is that it can take advantage of a handset’s Wi-fi (WLAN) capability as well as connecting over 3G (or GPRS) in order to make voice calls by VOIP using only your account on Skype instead of your mobile minutes is also a big part in making this software an interesting piece of work. But please do check whether this software supports your phone before you decide to download it due to that fact that I have heard some complaints of it scrambling up handsets. It works fine on the N95 so for all you Nokia users, don’t be alarm it works perfectly well on them.
