Interrobang‽

Why have I never heard of the Interrobang before‽ Neatly encompassing a question mark and an exclamation mark, this piece of punctuation has been around since 1962 and this is the first I’ve seen or heard of it.

Interrobang set in Apple SymbolsMost versions of it are, however, quite clumsy at small sizes looking a little like a question mark gone wrong, but it can be quite beautiful as well. This mark is a God-send in this day-and-age of ’blogs and commenting. No more will I need to strike both shift-1 and shift-/ to announce my question with some exclamation. I have no idea where the character is mapped on my keyboard though!

Something I find very amusing is the naming of the inverted interrobang for Hispanic languages – the ‘gnaborretni’.
