Matt

SEO your children

As someone who is about to become a parent I know the task of picking a name is tricky at best. But if you couple the usual pitfalls (“I knew an Oliver at school and I didn’t like him”) with modern dilemmas such as “will my child’s name have good Googleability” you really do have your work cut out.

Searching for my name and finding any information pertinent to me is pretty unlikely, due to a few more famous (or better SEO’d) Matt King’s. So should I name my child something that’ll get it 1st page search results everytime? Something unusual and unique? How important will a good search ranking be in the future? This is the interesting discussion taking place at Collision Detection. However, do you really want to be number 1? When you’re not you do and when your are, you probably don’t.
