Swirl and sniff
If only I’d come across this wikiHow article on how to taste wine yesterday before Sarah, Stuart and Vilmar went on an “educational” wine tasting session at Cavas de Gaucho in Piccadilly. Boiling it down, this is how you do it;
- Look at the wine
- Swirl the wine in your glass
- Sniff the wine
- Take a sip of wine, but do not swallow yet
- Slurp the wine (without making a loud slurping noise, of course)
- Watch out for “wine snobs”
Sounds complex. I’m almost glad I didn’t get to go… almost.
