I had the pleasure of heading over to Area 15 in NoDa on Oct 17th for the second edition of BarCamp Charlotte. BarCamp is a user-generated conference, which encourages attendees to pitch for their chance to present a session on a topic of their choice.

It was the eclectic range of speakers and associated subject matters that convinced me to return to Brighton having attended dConstruct in 2007. The rapid rise of Facebook cannot be ignored and reminds me of the speed at which Google rose to prominence a few years ago. At face value, the offerings of both companies seem different (search engine vs social application) but they essentially comprise of many similar elements; personal user data, email, IM, advertising revenue, social applications and search functionality. Only recently did I joined the creative commons iPhone users and ever since I have enjoyed the rich discussions and ideas of useful software which users can benefit from. Having a hand-help computer at your disposal sometimes empower the user to be able to manage their social/work events better. I can’t wait to see the improved version of the iPhone OS which might be announced at The Apple Worldwide Developers Conference WWDC 08 (lets not forget the iPhone Developer Program) which has been promised to bring us a plethora of cool and must use applications.
