The Charlotte based UX meetup took place last week with a session entitled Inexpensive Usability Testing – A Very Jane Goodall Experience. Considering that usability testing can be an expensive and time consuming process, which is hard to fit into a project proposal, this seemed like an opportunity I couldn’t miss!

Harrison shortlisted for Caterersearch Web Award

Following our win in the inaugural Caterersearch.com Web Awards last year, its great to see the website we designed and developed for Harrison Catering also shortlisted for 2009. The awards were launched last year to recognise and reward the organisations and individuals involved in designing, managing, marketing or promoting food sector websites, judged on a criteria including visual design, innovation, content, interactivity, ease of use, commercial success or potential and overall user experience. Gaucho beats Belgo and Café Rouge!

Caterersearch.com Web Awards

Gaucho won Best Group Website Award at the Caterersearch.com Web Awards 2008 last night beating Belgo and Café Rouge into the top spot. Dusted designed and developed the current Gaucho site as part of a major re-branding and positioning exercise in 2006 and since then has maintained and looked after the site to ensure it stays ahead of the competition. Progressive Degradation

I love a good buzzword. Two of the more recent ones in web design are these multi-syllabic beauties. Graceful Degradation and Progressive Enhancement. They both address the issue of the unknown quantity of the end-user’s browsing technology. Are they using the latest, greatest shiny browsers or are they keeping it retro (whether out of choice or not)? Are they on their mobile phone or on their Xbox 360 attached to a 50″ HD screen?
